Themes and SpeakersScope. SSPC is the worldwide reference conference for pure and applied science of Solid Proton Conductor Materials. It focuses on chemistry and physics of proton conduction, ranging from elementary processes to applications for electrochemical devices. Invited speakers will cover issues as diverse as chemistry of complex nanostructured materials, characterization of bulk systems and interfaces, and structure-transport interplay. Advanced applications will be also considered, with particular attention to electrochemistry of novel energy devices. Focus will be on both soft and hard materials, with emphasis on cutting edge experimental characterization techniques, modern modeling and simulation work. SSPC-16 will be held in Grenoble. Located in the French Alps, Grenoble is one of the most outstanding and innovative research centers in France for pure and applied science. It is also the reference site for developing new technologies for energy. Special scope. Special attention will be devoted to the use of modern scattering techniques (neutrons and X-rays) in studying properties of materials for novel energy applications. The conference will benefit from the unique scientific environment of Grenoble, including world-class large scale facilities such as the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and the Institute Laue Langevin (ILL). A guided tour of both facilities will be proposed to participants, and a special scientific afternoon will be dedicated to neutrons and X-rays studies in the field.
